If you saw my Best of Weddings 2017 post then you probably figured this one was coming next. This was a great year or portraits. I absolutely LOVE the opportunity to work with my past couples, and of course to meet new couples for their engagement session ahead of their wedding. This year I shot anniversary, family, and newborn sessions for past couples as well as connecting with my new 2018 couples and photographing a few bridal portrait sessions as well. It was a good year…and a total highlight was shooting my first session through a downpour in Savannah, which was so much fun! Runner up was an engagement session while my couple bass fished. Pretty awesome! I really work with the coolest couples. Enjoy this collection of my favorite portrait images from 2017!
Remember these two incredibly fun loving and beautiful people? Maybe their Old Sheldon Church Ruins engagement session from 2015 rings a bell or their 2016 wedding in Columbia might feel familiar. I was lucky enough to get Alex and William in front of my camera again this fall for a South Carolina anniversary session and as usual, they never fail to make it such an easy and fun hour together. Now, maybe this isn’t quite a formal anniversary session since they celebrated their first anniversary in July, but it does mark them in the early years of their marriage and it makes my heart so happy to know they’ll have these sweet memories to always look back on and I love that they include their pup Hank as often as possible.
Of course Hank had to make it a mission to get into the pond, despite William saying seconds before “I just hope he doesn’t get in the pond.” If you know me you know I love a lab and they love a good challenge…and any body of water. So I’m pretty sure Hank said “I hear you dad, and I raise you one spontaneous pond dive.” Wet dog and all, it made for such a fun morning. Alex and William, it makes me so happy to reconnect with you guys and your love is incredibly contagious! Enjoy just a few of my favorite images below!
There’s something so extra special about in home lifestyle newborn sessions, especially when it means I’m seeing my past brides and grooms walk through this new chapter in life together as parents. I photographed Carty and Mark’s Savannah wedding back in 2014 and now they’ve welcomed their beautiful daughter Abigail into the world. Despite Hurricane Irma’s best efforts to derail our session, we made it happen and I’m so happy to share these special images of Carty, Mark, Abigail, and their sweet pup Sadie in their Savannah home. Enjoy a few of my favorites!
At this stage, many people don’t know that I actually started my business on photographing pet sessions. Working with animals was my first passion and is such a huge part of who I am so though my work has moved much more toward my love of weddings and my couples, any opportunity to get some four-legged kids in front of my camera is no doubt a good time!
I was so excited to work with Ashley and her crew of four dogs; Sage, Finn, Piper, and Banks. I was a little intimidated at first, knowing three were border collies and would likely look very similar, but once I met them, saw them working, got to know their personalities, and saw their distinguishing marks, it was easy to see they each had their own unique set of ways. We started the session at a farm just south of Annapolis, Maryland where Ashley often works two of her dogs; Piper and Banks, on sheep. From there, we headed to a local beach on the Chesapeake Bay where Ashley regularly walks and enjoys the water, sun, and sand with all four of her dogs. I loved this evening…talk about fun and these guys keeping me laughing! I’m excited to share a few of my favorite images below!
I feel like I have to preface this post for anyone confused, that I am not a family photographer. However, I do want to be a legacy photographer. The photographer who photographs your engagement session, bridal portraits, wedding day, newborn session, and then family portraits as your family grows over the years. To say that I get to do this for Rachel, Tim, and their daughter Adelaide is truly the ultimate honor. Having first connected with them back in 2012 when they hired me for their engagement session, then their wedding the following year, I feel like I’ve seen them through so many exciting chapters and watched their relationship and marriage grow.
Now, they have Adelaide to show for their years and their commitment to their family, and she is just the sweetest, most curious, independent, beautiful little thing. Last time I saw her she was just a few weeks old, and now she’s running around, totally has her own agenda, and family life is looking so good on the Tracy’s. It was so much fun connecting for their family photos just as Adelaide is about to turn one, and I’m in love with the sweet moments we captured during their Charleston portrait session.
Family sessions available only for past BCP couples. If you are a former BCP bride and groom and are interested in having a new season or chapter document, click here to get in touch!
Oh this Savannah anniversary session in the rain is just everything! You might remember Anna and Kyle…they’ve been on my blog several times now and I always, always leave my time with them so creatively filled up and so thrilled with the photos we captured. You can see their engagement session from 2015 here (then a few bonus film images here), their 2016 Charleston wedding here, and now these beautiful anniversary portraits to capture them during their first anniversary trip! These two love the south and I just love when they include me on their trips here and allow me to document each special season in their lives.
Since they were coming through Savannah from Nashville on their way to Florida and they had only around 12 hours in town, there was no dodging the stormy weather forecasted for Monday evening. I love that they were totally game to go with it and armed with umbrellas, we had the best time. Aside from the first five minutes of their session and maybe once or twice throughout that they tossed aside the umbrella for a quick second, it down poured nearly the entire time. Thunder and all! But we got to see and shoot in some beautiful parts of Savannah and the upside was that most of the squares and best oak tree areas were pretty empty because everyone was dodging the weather!
I love so many of these images…they are just such romantic, but still cheery and sweet photos and they make my little photographers heart so happy. And don’t they look incredible?! Even half drenched?! I love it! Enjoy just a few of my favorites, and happy first anniversary to Anna and Kyle tomorrow!
