Goodness this wedding. I had been looking forward to this day for SO long. Chelsea and Chad have been so fun to work with from the get-go…and they’ve been on my calendar for quite some time! Of course I couldn’t believe when we found out we were expecting baby #2, that she was due to arrive just weeks after their wedding date…but I KNEW I could not miss this wedding. With a solid back up (and back up back up) plan in place, Chelsea and Chad so graciously agreed to keep me as their photographer so this wedding was even more special for me to photograph for them. I appreciated them & their families trust in me so much, and think it says a lot about who they are.
From the beginning, Chelsea and Chad have been fun, laid-back, and go with the flow. Nobody ever wishes for all day rain on their wedding day, but honestly there’s only a handful of people who can deal with it the way that they and their families (and vendor team) did and for that I’m so grateful everything came together the way that it did; rain and all!
Our ONLY break in rain all day was for their first look…and that break didn’t even last a full 5 minutes! Fortunately Cote Designs had decked out every inch of their backyard wedding with stunning florals so even the rain plan locations were just gorgeous (and hey, the backdrop of every corner of their family home sitting up above the Savannah River rapids sure didn’t hurt either!)
Chelsea and Chad, thank you and your families for having me to document such an epic rainy wedding day. Rainy weddings always make for such unique photos, incredible stories, and wonderful memories. There’s so much to be said for the ability to celebrate the most anticipated day of your life in straight up mud…in fact, I think it’s a great start to a marriage, because we all know that even though marriage is beautiful and fun, there’s always muddy parts and you have to work through them and come out on the other side finding the positive in the mess.
