Year in Review: 2024

Hi, hello! Here we are…it’s 2025! Anyone else still catching themselves writing 2024? Just me?

2024 was a huge year for my business! So many of you have been along for the ride since the very beginning (2010—how is this my 15th year?!). This past year felt like Britt 2.0, and I’m still processing it all. I’ve never felt so fulfilled in my work or more certain that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. The hardest part has been juggling all the ideas!

Here are a few highlights from the year:

1. Coming Full Circle: I originally started my business in 2010 as a full-service photographer, ensuring every client walked away with a tangible product—albums, canvases, or printed photographs. To be back in that space feels like coming home. My clients LOVED having a complete portrait experience this year. Across 18 sessions, we created 30 finished pieces of custom artwork, all while still providing high-res digital files for sharing and safekeeping.
2. A New Business: This year, The Album Concierge came to life! My pivot away from weddings led to supporting other photographers with album design (among other tasks), and then to full-service photography, and thus an opportunity to blend the two was born. The Album Concierge serves high-end photographers who want their clients to have heirloom albums and wall art but don’t have the bandwidth to build an entire system. This new venture has been an incredible blessing—it’s truly my business baby. After such an amazing start in 2024, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2025.
3. Home, Family, and Life: While making major shifts in my business, I also prioritized my mindset and fitness. I feel overwhelmingly grateful for my family and the life we’ve built. We spent an incredible amount of time at the lake this summer, traveled a few times to Maryland to visit family and friends, took our first international trip  as a family to Costa Rica, spent more time as a family with our horses, and watched our oldest fly the coop to work in Colorado for the winter. My family is my why—the reason behind everything I do. I am doing my best to soak up every single day in this busy season of life with them.

Of course, not everything went perfectly. Here are a few challenges from the year:

1. Growing Pains: With growth comes the need for extra support. Releasing control over any part of my business is incredibly hard for me. My coach spent half of 2024 reminding me that I needed to hire help, and I am finally now onboarding my new assistant and several designers. As a stage 5 control freak when it comes to client experience and service, this has been a tough transition, but I know I can’t reach bigger goals without letting go and keeping my focus on big picture strategy, growth, and relationships.
2. Time Struggles: I constantly felt strapped for time, like I was cramming a 40-hour job into a 15-20 hour week. It left me feeling stretched thin, with a lot of mom guilt and far more late work nights after the kids went to bed than is good for me. That’s a hard no for me moving forward. I have big plans to improve my time management in 2025.
3. Phone Boundaries: I felt too tethered to my phone, which is honestly embarrassing to admit. I know I’m not alone in this, but I desperately want to model for my kids that life happens beyond screens. While we do a decent job as a family, this is an area where I need to set better boundaries and grow in discipline.

I’m constantly amazed by the incredible people this work brings into my life and the honor of capturing special moments that live on in albums, frames, and beyond. Thank you for being here!
